In The Keeper, cantankerous, charismatic, and fiercely devoted riverkeeper John Lipscomb and his loyal dog patrol the Hudson River by wooden boat, guarding a waterway long scarred by industrial abuse. Though the river has made a remarkable recovery, the film reveals the environmental threats that still endanger this historic and fragile ecosystem.
Jon Bowermaster is an oceans expert, journalist, writer, filmmaker, adventurer, and six-time grantee of the National Geographic Expeditions Council. Named one of the Society’s “Ocean Heroes,” his first assignment for National Geographic Magazine documented a 3,741-mile dogsled crossing of Antarctica. He is the founder of Oceans 8 Films and the One Ocean Media Foundation, producing films about climate change in the Hudson Valley and around the world.
