A PLASTIC OCEAN

Let’s talk about plastic.

As Pleasantville considers the Reusable Bag Initiative, Films on Purpose and PleasantvilleRecycles are teaming up to host a pop-up screening of A PLASTIC OCEAN Jan 11th, 6:30pm at the Mt Pleasant Public Library. We’ll start with bites, the film will begin a little before 7pm and we’ll have a panel discussion following the film. The Reusable Bag Initiative folks will be on hand to answer questions you may have.

In the center of the Pacific Ocean researchers have found more plastic than plankton. A Plastic Ocean documents the newest science, proving how plastics, once they enter the oceans, break up into small particulates that enter the food chain where they attract toxins like a magnet. These toxins are stored in seafood’s fatty tissues, and eventually consumed by us.
